Shadowbox Frame

I had seen a picture of a heart made out of pins, and I loved that idea.  So I found this Shadowbox at Goodwill that originally had a heart made out of little paper roses.  I decided to repaint the frame and put my own pin heart inside!

I bought this shadowbox at the Goodwill outlet.  It had a heart inside it made out of little roses that were made out of maybe paper maché.  I pulled those out and decided to make a heart out of some of the pins I have.  I've just stuck them in some paper right now, but I might change that later.

I painted blue over the frame, then I sprayed it with a concealer.

Embroidery in Small Frame

I bought this frame at Gilley's cause I thought it was just so darn cute.  I thought some sort of embroidery piece would be really cute inside it.  Mom had some of this material in her stash.  I embroidered the little flower, then attached a ceramic button I'd gotten at the Fiber event one year.  Finally, I embroidered some yellow thread around the bow.

Square Lamp Frame

This is my newest endeavor.  I've seen lamp frames in some of the antique stores I've been in, so now I've decided to try it myself.  I found a couple at Goodwill, and this one I really liked the shape of.

Turns out when I took this one apart, the frame was just made of two separate pieces, the top square and the bottom square.  That was a bit problematic.  So I decided to connect the corners with braids of some materials.  I also tied strips in the middle of each side.  Then I took the pink material and wrapped it around the frame, tucking in the ends of the strips.  I just need now a lamp of some sort to hang the frame from.

Mulan Mug

For my brother's Christmas present, I decided to try the Sharpie mug.  I washed the mug, then wrote on it with the marker and let it sit for a couple days.  Then I put it in the oven, turned the oven to I think 400 degrees, and let it bake for forty-five minutes (?) or maybe an hour.  I gently hand washed it the next day, and it seemed to have worked!  I chose one of the greatest movie lines of all time from Mulan, his favorite Disney movie, and then I wrote Dignity in Chinese, with the line that the matchmaker draws on her face included.

Belle of the Ball

After making my Cinderella art, my sister said she wanted one, too.  So for Christmas I made her a piece that depicts the story of Beauty and the Beast, her favorite movie.  I also wrote up a page long description for it.  I wanted to keep this one for myself, too, but in the end I was a good sister and let her keep it.

Cinderella's Story

This was my other new project for Christmas.  It started out as a joke.  When we went to Paris I complained about some of the pieces of art, mostly in the Pompidou, that I thought were stupid because they looked like someone just threw some paint at them.  One in particular had a description that said the piece represented some mythological battle between Hercules and some god or something, but to me it just looked like some smeared red paint.  So I thought it would be funny to make my own "art" and give it to Joe for Christmas.  It turned out much better than I expected.  I chose to "tell" a Disney story with the art, and for this one I picked Cinderella.  I even wrote out a page long description that explains the art.  When I finished it I liked it so much that I decided I wanted to keep it for myself.

So for Joe, I decided to make a mini "travel-size" copy for him on a tiny canvas.

I think I've finally found my true calling.

Wire and Rock Frame Holders

This was my new craft endeavor for Christmas.  I picked up a bunch of rocks out of our creek and then wrapped them with wire to make a picture holder.  For family and friends I took it a step farther, shaping the wire into something that I thought was related to them.

For Courtney, I made the shape of the browning deer.

For Rita I decided to make a pumpkin shape.

For Le, I made a family tree.

Hannah's was the first one I made, and I made it into a butterfly.
